Marion Jones Is Making A Comeback
I read this last night and thought good for her. I have known for quite some time doping went on in Track and Field. But, for the life of me I thought it had escaped Marion Jones. There is no way she could be using….well, she was. And, now she has paid her debt to society for lying to the grand jury about it….
So, here is a feel good story….I wish her well. I also wish Nolan Richardson much luck and getting the organization off to a good start and jump starting his career again.
And, I won’t those abs. Mine aren’t bad…but man I would love to have those. But, here is what ESPN reported on Marion Jones.
The WNBA’s Tulsa Shock will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. ETWednesday to announce the signing of former track star Marion Jones.
Jones, now 34, worked out for Shock coach Nolan Richardson on Saturday.
Joneswas released in September 2008 from a Texas federal prison aftercompleting most of her six-month sentence for lying about doping andher role in a check-fraud scam.
After long denying she had everused performance-enhancing drugs, Jones admitted in federal court thatshe used a designer steroid from September 2000 to July 2001. She wasstripped of three gold medals and two bronzes she won at the 2000Sydney Olympics.
Jones is attempting her athletic comeback just eight months after giving birth to her third child.
“Istarted to think about wanting to get back into the world of sport lastyear,” Jones said, according to the Tulsa World. after a high-intensityworkout with Ashley Golston, Chelsea Ledbetter and Verressa Gaston andin front of Richardson and Shock assistants Wayne Stehlik and TammyBagby.
“I have an enormous passion for the game of basketball and Ifelt like I still had something to contribute to the world of sports.
