ObamaCare Passes; Stupak Called “Baby Killer” on House Floor

A Congressman on the Republican side of the House called Representative Bart Stupak “Baby Killer” on the House floor as Stupak rose against the Republicans’ pro-life motion to recommit the Democrats’ health care legislation this evening.  Other members then joined in.

The healthcare legislation passed this evening on a vote of 219-212.  All Republicans voted against the legislation joined by 34 Democrats in opposition to this monstrosity Democrats have the audacity to call “health care”.  HotAir has coverage of the vote.

The Republicans offered the motion to recommit in order to prove to voters that the so-called “pro-life Democrats” are not pro-life at all but playing political games.  These Democrats who had previously stood against federal funding of abortion tonight voted for the health care bill after President Obama agreed to an executive order that will supposedly limit funding of abortion, an order that can be immediately revoked if the President chooses to do so and which does not have the same force as the statute.

Republicans argued that since the order can be revoked and since it does not have the force of the statute itself, a motion to recommit was in order to make sure the language would be included in the statute.  This motion to recommit forced everyone to go on record being for or against the language that had previosly been offered by Stupak which would prevent federal funding of abortion.  A vote against the motion to recommit was, for all intents and purposes, a vote for abortion funding in the bill.  Hence, Stupak was called “baby killer” as he rose in opposition to his own pro-life language in homage to his President’s worthless scrap of paper.

The Susan B. Anthony List is revoking its Defender of Life Award which was to be presented to Bart Stupak on Wednesday evening.  Hats off to them!  In the Twitterverse and blogosphere, Stupak is being referred to as “Judas”, “Pontius Pilate” and “The Neville Chamberlain of Abortion” for accepting President Obama’s offer to sign an executive order stating that federal funds won’t be used to pay for abortion.  Since everyone knows it’s not worth the paper it’s written on, the names Stupak is being called do fit the situation.

Representative Bart Stupak and his purportedly “pro-life” Democratic colleagues have sacrificed the lives of children on the altar of socialized medicine……….just like he pledged he would do last year.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a letter opposed to passage.
